Akai’s MPK Mini MK3 comes with an entire production package

Building on the legacy of its best-selling USB MIDI keyboard, Akai Pro has unveiled the MPK Mini MK3. The compact controller sports many of the same design quirks as its predecessor, but with some welcomed improvements. MPK Mini MK3 comes with the new DAW, MPC Beats, which simulates the workflow in legendary MPC hardware, plus a collection of MPC Expansion packs and plug-ins.

The new MPK Mini is compatible with all industry-standard music-making apps and features plug-and-play connectivity, so you won’t even need to install any drivers. A new OLED display gives visual feedback on velocity, CC and lets you select which DAW mode the controller will function in.

A Gen 2 dynamic keybed provides a more natural and responsive key performance, allowing expression on instruments from lush grand pianos to icy synth leads. Of course, the controller is built with the eight performance pads that have become a staple of Akai gear. These bankable, velocity-sensitive backlit pads are ideal for drumming and sample playback.

MPK Mini MK3 features assignable rotary knobs to take control of your music-making app and make realtime changes to parameters. The keyboard also features note repeat, arpeggiator and an omnidirectional joystick for even more flexibility in your performances.

“Whether it’s an entry point to the exciting world of music production, or a must-have tool for the seasoned professional on the move, MPK mini won’t disappoint,” said Dan Gill, senior product manager for Akai Pro. “For years, MPK mini has graced studios and stages internationally with a feature set geared toward maximum creativity, whatever your next project demands. Our third iteration takes the best parts of its predecessors while adding new features directly from our critically acclaimed MPC line and universal capability with any music-making app, making it easier than ever to integrate into any setup. We can’t wait to see how MPK mini mk3 inspires the next generation of creators.”

The 25-key controller comes in three colour schemes with a price of $119. Find out more at akaipro.com
